Zoom R8 je osmokanalni digitalni snimač, od kojih dva kanala mogu da se snimaju simultano (istovremeno). Namenjen je korišćenju za amatersku i profesionalnu upotrebu. Napaja se putem baterija ili strujnog adaptera, zbog čega je veoma zahvalan za korišćenje kako u studijskim tako i u terenskim uslovima. Snimanje se obavlja u WAV audio formatu. Ulazi su u varijanti kombo XLR/TRS konektora, koji podržavaju balansiranu i nebalansiranu vezu. Mogu se uključiti direktno instrumenti sa visokom impedansom kao električna gitara, bas gitara ili slično.
